Frequently Asked Questions
Have Questions? I've Got Answers.
Whether you're booking a wedding, portrait, or branding session, it's totally normal to have questions! This FAQ covers the most common things clients ask from what to wear and how to prepare, to when you’ll get your photos. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out!
How long does a typical session last?
Most sessions last around 45 minutes to an hour, giving us plenty of time to capture a mix of posed and candid moments. We’ll start by getting comfortable as I interact with you and take a few group photos while everyone is fresh and happy. Then we’ll shift into a more relaxed flow, encourage someone to tell a funny joke, dancing, flower picking, and genuine emotions are all welcome. I let sessions come to a natural close and never rush if I feel there’s still more to capture. Mini sessions typically last between 10 to 30 minutes depending on the setup. Before we wrap up, I’ll let you know when to expect your gallery and head home to safely back up your images.
Do you require a retainer or signed contract to book?
Yes! To officially reserve your session date, I ask for a signed contract and a non-refundable retainer. This is usually 25% of your session fee or 50% for mini sessions, and the remaining balance will be due before your session. Once the contract is signed and the retainer has been paid, your spot is reserved!
What happens if there is inclement weather?
First, you must be comfortable. I will do a session in almost any weather but it is important you are comfortable. South Carolina weather can change quickly, and if you are a family that takes what they are given and runs with it, all the better! That being said, I am flexible and will always offer to reschedule to another day. However you must reschedule your session within 3 months or your deposit will no longer be applicable nor refundable.
We have extended family in town, can we include them? What about the family pet?
Yes, absolutely! Your time is your time. You can divide it up how you please. I am here to capture those wonderful fleeting moments. If you have a long-distance relative in town, what better time to capture those moments? Also, I love all animals, they are always welcome to make a debut in your session.
i'm not sure where to book our session. Do you have a location guide?
Yes! Once your session is booked, you'll receive access to a collection of helpful guides, including a location guide with my favorite spots. I’m also happy to help you choose the perfect location based on your vision and vibe.
Do you travel?
I will drive up to an hour out of Loris, sometimes more for a great location! If you have a place in mind that you would love to shoot at, don't be afraid to put it out there. I love a good adventure!
Will you help us with posing? I never know what to do with my hands!
Yes, absolutely! While I try not to overly pose my clients, I do lightly guide you to help create natural, meaningful photos that feel like you. I always aim to get at least one classic photo of everyone together, but beyond that, how we capture your session depends on your energy and comfort. If you're more relaxed and love a cozy, sit-and-smile moment for holiday cards or the wall, we’ll get that. If you are playful and full of movement, we’ll lean into that energy for candid, heartfelt memories. And don’t worry about the hands, I’ll gently guide you throughout so nothing feels awkward or stiff. Plus, once you book, you’ll receive a posing guide to help you feel fully prepared before your session.
What should we wear for photos?
I know choosing outfits can feel overwhelming, but don't stress because I’ve got you covered. After booking, you'll receive a detailed wardrobe guide with tips on what photographs well, how to coordinate without matching, and ideas for different vibes, whether you’re going for cozy, classic, or fun and bold. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident. If you're unsure, you're welcome to bring a couple of outfit options and we can fit in changes as long as it stays within your session time.
What happens after our session? When will our photos be ready?
Right when I return home from our session, I will upload your photos and view each one to select the best of the best for your gallery. I will then start my editing and gallery creation process. Once I have finished, I will send you an email with your gallery link. You will receive your gallery link within 2 weeks of your session. If you ordered prints or products, you will usually receive those within 6 weeks. Some custom products can take longer to deliver than others.
How long will my images be available online for?
While I keep your images available online for six months after our session, and I do have backups of our sessions, they're not entirely infallible. To ensure you have uninterrupted access to your precious memories, I highly recommend downloading a copy yourself. By doing so, you'll have peace of mind knowing that your images are securely stored and readily accessible whenever you want to relive those special moments. Another excellent alternative to ensure the safety and accessibility of your photos is to purchase a storage device directly from me. This way, you can have a dedicated and reliable physical storage solution specifically designed to safeguard your cherished memories. With a storage device in your possession, you'll have complete control over your images, eliminating any concerns about online availability or potential data loss.
Do you offer prints, albums, or wall art?
Yes! You can purchase professional quality prints, albums, and wall art directly through your online gallery. If you prefer, you're also welcome to download your images and have them printed anywhere you like.
Will I have full ownership of the photos?
Yes, you will have full rights to the images, including the right to print, share, and post them however you'd like. I do ask for credit by name for any businesses that use my work for any public or marketing purposes.
What kind of clients do you work with?
My work is built on connection and respect. I am intentional about creating an inclusive space for everyone; all genders, sexualities, races, body types, abilities, and family structures. I want you to feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are.
I also hold that same standard for everyone I work with; kindness and respect are non-negotiable here.
How do you support clients who are autistic or neurodivergent?
Every person deserves to feel comfortable being themselves in front of the camera. If certain environments, lighting, or communication styles work best for you, I am happy to adjust the session accordingly. That can include adjusting the lighting, pacing, or noise levels, planning breaks, or incorporating familiar comfort items to keep the session calm and relaxed.
Can we include our cultural attire, traditions, or personal customs in our session?
Absolutely. I love incorporating meaningful traditions and details that celebrate your background. I photograph clients from all backgrounds and representation matters deeply to me. My goal is to capture every person authentically and respectfully. If there are particular sensitivities, boundaries, or cultural expectations that are important to you, please share them and we can adapt the session so that it feels true to you.
